In modern construction, the traditional building material wood is increasingly convincing due to its qualities as a renewable resource, its favourable material properties, and short construction times. The continuous advancement of timber construction is an important part of the research conducted at the Institute of Building Physics.
Literature and completed works
- "On the load-bearing behaviour of semi-rigidly connected wooden beams" – Prof. Dr.-Ing. Leif Arne Peterson
Example research projects in timber engineering
- Longitudinal connections of wooden masts and displacement piles
- Long-term creep behaviour
- Bonded round steel bars in cross-laminated timber
- ZIM project: “Technology development for an innovative design of wooden power pylons for high-voltage lines” Project partner: Ing.-Holzbau Cordes GmbH & Co. KG
- Basic research: “Long-term behaviour of wooden bending beams and compression struts”
