Congratulations, Dr. Pohl!
We are delighted to announce that Dagmar Pohl, research assistant at ISAH, passed her doctoral examination with distinction on 5 December this year. Dagmar Pohl submitted a dissertation on the topic of ‘Model-based operational support for ship clearance systems’ and defended it with great success last Friday. After the examination, there were many beaming faces, and Dagmar Pohl also took the traditional re-examination.
Special thanks go to the members of the examination board, in particular the external reviewer, Prof. Tobias Morck from the University of Kassel, and the chair of the board, Prof. Martin Achmus. It was also a particular pleasure to have our emeritus professor Karl-Heinz Rosenwinkel as a member of the board.
Dagmar Pohl's work is a publication that describes the wastewater conditions on board cruise ships more explicitly and comprehensively than any other. Building on this, she shows how models and digital twins can help to support the operation of these systems and make the wastewater treatment processes on board even more efficient and reliable. Ms Pohl's doctoral thesis is thus also an expression of the fact that we at ISAH continue to provide excellent technical coverage of the field of maritime environmental protection and thus also contribute to the protection of the marine environment.
Finally, once again, warm congratulations to Dr Pohl. Ms Pohl will continue to work at ISAH as a postdoctoral researcher.
