Study / Final Theses
The Institute of Building Physics is looking for students throughout the semester to work on study and final theses. The subject areas include building physics, fire protection, and timber engineering. Typically, each topic relates to a research area handled by one of our research staff. Of course, your own ideas for possible topics are always welcome.
Below you will find an overview of topics for current and already assigned student theses. In principle, all listed subject areas are possible.

Notes on student theses
- The theses must be prepared in accordance with the applicable examination regulations.
- All theses are generally assigned as individual work.
- The theses must be submitted in two printed copies and in digital form.
- To work on a study thesis, it is required to attend the course “Preparation for the Study Thesis.”
- All theses must begin with a summary in English.
- The content is presented publicly within the faculty in a presentation followed by a discussion.
- For study theses and (interdisciplinary) projects, the presentation duration is 15 minutes; for bachelor’s and master’s theses, it is 20 minutes.
- The theses must be submitted in a quality customary for the university.
